My hubby's grandmother had purchased her sister's home in an auction after her death. When my hubby and I got married in 1992, his grandmother told us she would sell the place to us and we could live there. We moved in shortly after we were married. I was also 6 months pregnant at the time and he was out of town alot. During the first month everything went great. He would go out of town and I would stay at home by myself. But things started changing. I would be waken during the middle of the night by whispering and footsteps in the house. I would turn the lights on and the whispering would stop and there would be noone in the house but me.

I told my hubby about it but he said I just wasn't used to being alone so we agreed that I would have someone to stay with me. The next week he went out of town, I had my sister and brother to stay with me.
They soon heard the whispering and footsteps themselves.

My brother had a friend of his to come and stay with him one night. They stayed up late playing super ninetendo and the next morning when we woke his friend was gone. We went and found his friend and asked why he had left during the night. He replied, " There's something weird about that damn house, I heard all kinds of whispering and stuff when I was trying to go too sleep." He also said that he saw a little man about 2 ft in height run across the floor right before his eyes. He said it wasn't a man though, it looked more like a little devil. He said it had a pointed tale and horns on it's head. That was enough for me. It made cold chills run up my spine.

When my hubby came home that Friday, I told him I didn't want to stay in the house anymore unless he was there with me. We agreed that while he was gone I'd stay with my mom til he came home on the weekends.
That next week, I went to the house to clean it. The house had two doors. One in the living room and one in the kitchen. I cleaned the living room and checked the door to make sure it was locked before I made my way to the kitchen. I was cleaning the glass in the kitchen door and all of a sudden the living room door flew open and rocks came flying into the house. The fan that was sitting on the table was knocked to the ground. I totally freaked out. I grabbed my puppy, headed out the kitchen door and got in my car and drove to my grandparents house.

When I got there, my grandmother told my grandfather to go back to the house with me until I got what I needed to get from there. When we entered the house, the fan was back on the table, there was no rocks in the floor and the door had closed and locked by itself.
We moved from that house shortly afterwards.

We didn't know at the time that we had moved in that my hubby's uncle had beaten his wife so badly in the house one night that there was blood stains on the bedroom walls. They were painted dark blue to cover up the stains. We also found out that his uncle had taken sick in the house and had argued with his wife the night of his death to leave him alone, he had told her that he wanted to die in peace at home. Against his wishes, she started to the hospital with him but he was dead by the time they got there. Soon after his death she passed on as well.

Many people have told me stories about the old man. He would get drunk and beat his wife unconscious at times. Many say he was a very mean and spiteful old man while he was living. They say that his spriit probably remains inside the house. I, for one, have no intentions of ever stepping foot back inside the door of that house again.

This is another story for you. It's kind of funny in a way. It was told to me by my hubby.

Wanting to make alittle extra money, two old guys (Travis and Phillip) went to see a good friend to see if it would be okay for them to move a small mobile home onto his property to bootleg (selling beer illegally) out of.
Being a good friend and agreeing on some rent the friend gave them permission to move their mobile home on his property.
So Travis and Phillip get their small mobile home moved in and they start bootlegging. They were sitting around the table one night counting their profits of the day and the back door flies open. Travis tells Phillip to go close the back door. He does so and they go back to their counting. The back door flies open again except this time it's not only the back door but the refridgerator door opens by itself as well. Phillip gets up from the table and goes and shuts both doors and comes back and gets a fork from the kitchen. Curious, Travis asks Phillip what he's gonna do with the fork. Phillip tells Travis to come with him and he'll show him. They get to the back door and Phillip sticks the fork down through the lock loop and bends it over. They stand there and watch the door for a few minutes. The fork straightens itself back out and flies into the air. Mesmerized Phillip picks up the fork and looks at it. You couldn't tell it had been bent. The back door flies open again and they head out the front door. They moved their little mobile home out the next day and haven't been back to the spot since.

Ghost Cat
In 1910, a man named Isaac Thompson lived alone in a log cabin on a small stream called Cat Holler (so called because when the first settlers came to the area, they found several panthers or mountain lions living in the rock overhangs along this creek) in Owsley County. Isaac made a precarious living by farming a few acres of corn and a small garden. His other source of food was to help local farmers when they butchered hogs or cattle in the fall.
One November evening, as he was returning home from having helped a neighbor kill and dress a steer, Isaac was carrying a large piece of fresh meat in a cloth sack. Although no panthers or mountain lions had been seen in the vicinity for over fifty years, a huge cat of some kind, prowling the night in search of food, smelled the bloody prize. It followed Isaac until the right moment, then it leaped, tearing the beef from his shoulders and the life from his body. His dying screams echoed in the crisp Autumn night, where they can sometimes still be heard.
Today, no traces of Isaac Thompson's cabin remain, but people living a few miles away say that hunters have heard the screams of a mountain lion at night as recently as 1983.
The sounds are not those of a domestic cat; they have been taped and positively identified as being that of a mountain lion or cougar. Thorough searches have been made, but no animal tracks or any other indication of a large cat have been found. No one has seen anything unusual on this stream, but several people say they have heard the unmistakable sound of a man crying out in agony at the same time the cat's screams are heard.

Gravity Hill, Princeton Kentucky- The story behind Gravity Hill is that in the early 1900's a man and his 2 daughters were killed at the bottom of the hill when his truck stalled and was hit head on by an Ice truck making early morning deliveries. Seems that if you park your car at the bottom of the hill and shut everything off, put your vehicle into nuetral the spirits will push your vehicle up the hill so you wont die like they did.

Russellville KY- On an unspecified date in the late 1800's, a young woman checked into the Harrodsburg Springs Hotel in this small Kentucky town. She used a false name, and while no one knew her true identity, they recalled that she was quite beautiful. That night, as music played in the ballroom, the girl came downstairs and began dancing with various partners. The young men of the town eagerly lined up for their turn to dance with the beautiful young girl.

The girl danced passionately and at the end of the night, her final partner realized, that to his horror, the young girl had literally died in his arms. The shocked staff and guests held a funeral for this mysterious girl and she was buried on the hotel's property. As time has passed, local residents claim that this mysterious girl still returns to the site of the hotel. She has been seen lingering in the moonlight, slowly dancing and twirling to music tThe hotel is gone now. It burned down more than fifty years ago, although the grave remains in what is now a public park. There is a metal marker over her resting places that reads... "UNKNOWN - Hallowed and Hushed be the place of the dead. Step Softly. Bow Head."

Reading - The Old Abbott Mansion -
This old house located on Abbott Road is said to have many mysterious things occurring there. Legend says that when the last of the Abbott family was on their death bed, they sold the property on one condition. The home had to be torn down and the property used as farm land. Needless to say, it was not. People that have been inside the house report shades that rise and lower themselves, lights turning off and on , and a gruesome face appearing in one of the windows. There have also been complaints about the French doors locking from the opposite side, a loud banging on the floor at 3:00am, and mysterious dusty footprints that appear on every other step leading upstairs. The puzzling thing about the footprints is that only a visitor to the house seems able to wipe them away. There was even a tenant whose pet dog died in such a gruesome manner that police felt as if a human hand could not have done such damage. Cats seem to remain unharmed. You will never see any birds or other wild animals near the house though. The young son of a tenant once left his T-shirt lying on the floor and a mysterious light satrted glowing around it. Shortly thereafter, the child was accidentally shot and killed.

Pontiac-Clinton Valley Mental Institution.
During late night exploration of the deserted Clinton Valley Victorian buildings and grounds, we stumbled upon the wing once used for ECT. As we crept down a dim flashlight lit antiseptic hall, we heard a crashing sound resounding through the building. In a dank, resoundingly evil corner room we fleetingly glimpsed a horrifying image of a shock gurney thrashing up and down. It was as if a suffering patient was invisibly being tortured by the rudimentary treatments of the early 20th century. One agonized shriek drove us running from the building. Once outside, our defenses down, the terror was added to. A sinister man crossed our paths dragging a large sack. Just the right size for a corpse.

The students know him as "Red Eyes", no one has yet to see him.

Glenwood Cemetery - I have to believe that this cemetery is haunted. There have been some strange things happen here such as some people have said that they've actually seen lights and heard noises. I personally can't say that this is true but it does generally hold for most cemeteries.

My Grandmother's house - Way back when this house was built which was around the later 1700's ... There are many events that happen here ... When the family was growing there was 11 children that shared the upstairs and also a back room of the house ... It is told that out in the Garden there used to be a well ... Now some people might not know that when you live so far away from a city that you use well water ... But getting back to what I was saying ... This well when your standing on the front porch of the house and look strait down into the garden you can see where the well used to be, but has long been since filled in ... Sometimes you can see a woman dressed in white dancing above where the old well used to be ... What is weird is when you see the apparent Ghost or whatever it might be it just gives you cold chills all over ... You might think that it's dark in the city but when you get out in the country and back in the hills of Kentucky it's Pitch Black!

If you'd like to know a little more history of this house email me or use the message board both of which are found on the Contact Me Page.

Eloise Cemetery - This is another place that was stumbled upon by some people that I know. There is supposedly around 7300 graves here. We shall see when I go across the street and I'll write down all the Tomb Stone numbers that I find there. The only reason that I say numbers is because all they used for markers was the patient number instead of a name. I'm sure that just about all the records of the cemetery are all gone anyways.

Woods - Behind the Glenwood Cemetery is woods. I've been here lots of times, and there are some that think the woods are alive with Ghosts. Me and a few others will be going here very soon! I want to find out if there is anything going on or if it is just some overactive imaginations. I was also told that there is a lot of Graves back in these woods I've got to find them because from my childhood days I used to go back there I never seen any graves.

Bowers Harbor Inn
The Bowers Harbor Inn is famous for its haunting. Before becoming a resort the house belonged to an elderly couple for many years. Because the lady became quite infirm the husband had an elevator installed. The lady became rather deranged before finally dying, preceding her husband by only a few months. After that the house lay empty for several years. From the time the Bowers Harbor Inn began operating, the employees have reported seeing the wife in a second floor mirror, light switches that turn off and on by themselves, and the elevator taking unrequested trips up and down. Several times the manager has closed the place down for the evening, turning all of the lights off and locking the freezer door, only to find every light in the building (including those behind locked doors) blazing away, and the freezer door unlocked and standing open. There are also unconfirmed reports by patrons of the fireplaces lighting themselves.

Olde World Canterbury Village
The property began as a family farm called the Haddril Farm, and later was bought by the Scripps family, who had amassed a fortune through the newspaper business. Mr. Scripps bought it as a hobby, and soon developed it into a major farm of about 3,000 acres. During this time, many people lived and worked at the farm which Scripps called Wildwood. There was supposedly a cook named Minnie that was born on the farm and lived her life there. Her presence has been reported in what is now called the Canterbury Tails store. A local psychic, James, has found several other ghosts including Mrs. Scripps, who is said to have been seen by several people over the years as a woman in white, walking about the grounds. Many workers at this site have claimed to hear odd noises in the buildings, and have witnessed items, such as lights, being turned on randomly . One worker was locked in a basement room, and despite his best efforts, could not even budge the door. Finally, the general manager came to his aid only to find that the door was unlocked and opened easily. There is a rumor that a family cemetery was somehow lost when a man planned to develop the property. This occurrence could be the cause for some of the paranormal disturbances on the site.

Waverly Hill Tuberculosis Sanitarium
During the early twentieth century, Louisville had the highest tuberculosis rate in the country, so a hospital was opened. Many of the patients remained here until they died. The dead bodies were pushed down tunnels to the bottom of the hill where they were then carried off and buried. After the vaccine for tuberculosis was discovered, the hospital became a nursing home that is also now closed. Now, an elderly woman may be seen running from the building with bleeding risks and ankles; she begs for someone to get her out of that place. Many have also seen people peeking out of third floor--the residential ward--windows.

Owsley Co. Kentucky - Many sightings of a very large Beast. A lot of the older folks that live here can tell you about it. They have seen it at one point or another in there life. Just as I did when I was just a small boy. I was in the house and the dog started barking outside from the front porch of the house. I went out on the porch to make him shut up and and saw it sitting in the lane of the driveway. One of my uncles took off after it with a shotgun but it went into the hills and got away from him. It's strange because it don't seem like it is there to hurt anyone or anything. But there was one time when another of my uncles (Herman) was coming home late one evening and met up with it in the lane and the next thing that he remembered was waking up in the hospital the next day. He said that he saw something on the side of the lane and went over to see what it was and it knocked him flat down and out. To my knowledge noone has seen this thing during the day but I'll have to check it out with some more of the older people and see if they might have seen it in the light to get a description of the beast!

me and a friend stopped at a old grave yard on the way to work when we first got there we saw a woman standing in a wedding dress on a tombstone with our naked eye's!
Then we went further and i felt some thing real warm go up my back freddy shot it with his camera it was real black mist
I've got to believe this because my Cousin don't scare easy!
Does anyone have a clue to what a black mist can do to you? If you think that you can explain this to him I'll give you his email privately but not in the public eye. As I don't have permission to do so and he isn't online a lot so....

Well this is one I can't explain in no mannor. I kinda got involved with someone that is into practicing the Black Arts and well let's put it this way. When me and this other friend were messing with him and trying to make him leave us alone he said that he'd get us basically. Well the female involved in this is a dear friend of mine it's just that I'm not using any names that way nobody knows who I'm really talking about. The Male that is into the black arts and is Wiccan is something not to mess with. As he has been in the girls dreams doing things that have terrified her grately. Like she had this dream about how two of his friends had kidnapped her and drugged her and she passed out. Well when she awoke she was strapped to a table at her wrist and ankles. There were many around her they all wore black robes and had there heads covered and the girl was in all white. Then two more figures came into the room and one must have been high in the ranks or how ever it is with the Wiccan's. The one pulled his hood off and it was the person that has been taunting her along. The other figure said that I now pronounce you eternaly bonded. There was a lot of other things too but she would rather I didn't post the things that have happened now we are trying to fend off what ever it is. The guy thinks that he is satan himself and he isn't as far as I'm concerned anyways. Now if you think this is weird I'll have the girl post what all else has happened to her in the forums. It just goes to show you that you never know exactly who your talking to or dealing with online! Take it as a warning if you don't want to get caught up in something like this!

I should make a new catagory for this type of story! I will do this and transfer this story to that page just as soon as I get it done!
